Methodology releases

A public record of GCSI methods as they move from research development to formal, citable releases. DOI and citation details appear only after they have actually been assigned and approved.

Versioned methods

Development and publication are different states.

GCSI separates work in progress from formal releases. A release may receive a version, release date, formal citation and DOI only when those records exist. Until then, the public registry says so clearly.

Publication boundary

What changes when a methodology is formally released?

1. Frozen versionA specific version is identified so later revisions do not silently overwrite it.

2. Release dateThe public record states when that version became the formal release.

3. CitationA complete citation is published for the exact version rather than generated from incomplete metadata.

4. DOI, when assignedA DOI is shown only after a registration service has actually assigned it to that release.
